Can you think of a reason not to contact Damp Solutions UK for PIV Unit installations?
Does your home suffer from dampness and mould growth? If so, we believe the installation of an effective PIV Unit is the way to go; heres a list of reasons to help you understand the benefits of installing a PIV unit in your home:
The PIV unit continuously introduces fresh, filtered air into your home while expelling stale, damp, and polluted air.
This significantly reduces the concentration of indoor pollutants like dust, allergens, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), creating a healthier living environment, particularly beneficial for those with allergies or asthma.
One of the most significant issues in many homes is condensation, which leads to dampness and mould growth.
Mould isn’t just unsightly; it’s a health hazard that can cause respiratory problems and damage your property.
A PIV unit reduces humidity levels, preventing condensation and the costly problems associated with it.
A well-ventilated home is more energy efficient. By maintaining a constant flow of air, a PIV unit helps to even out temperature fluctuations and reduce the need for excessive heating or cooling.
Over time, this leads to lower energy bills. Plus, the unit itself is low-cost to run, often consuming as little energy as a standard light bulb.
Unlike traditional ventilation methods, which may require windows to be opened (letting in noise, insects, and pollutants), a PIV unit ensures your home is always filled with fresh air without compromising on security or comfort.
It’s like having a breath of fresh air 24/7, regardless of the weather outside.
By controlling moisture levels, a PIV unit helps protect your home’s structure and finishes, reducing the need for ongoing maintenance like redecoration or repairs due to damp-related issues.
This not only preserves the aesthetic appeal of your home but also saves money in the long term.
Homes with effective ventilation systems are more attractive to potential buyers.
A PIV unit can be a unique selling point, demonstrating that the home is well-maintained, energy-efficient, and healthier to live in. It’s a subtle, but valuable investment in your property’s future marketability.
Modern PIV units are designed to operate almost silently, ensuring they don’t disrupt your household’s peace.
You’ll enjoy the benefits without even noticing it’s there.
Installing a PIV unit is straightforward, with minimal disruption to your home.
It’s a one-time investment that starts paying off immediately, both in terms of comfort and cost savings.

The PIV principle was invented by Nuaire back in 1972! Since then, our iconic Drimaster range has become the most popular method of retrofit ventilation, and is the most effective way of controlling indoor air pollutants from burning fuels, or using cleaning, beauty and DIY products and smoking.
PIV supplies fresh air into the home by drawing air from outside into the ventilated loft space, where it is filtered before being passed through a modern ceiling diffuser.
Helps reduce humidity in the air, curing condensation dampness and preventing mould growth.
Removes both indoor and outdoor pollutants from the home, overall improving indoor air quality.
Meets Part F & L of Building Regulations as a low-energy ventilation strategy.
Ceiling diffuser is a modern and sleek circular design to help it blend into any home environment.
Filters only need to be changed every five years. The unit is fitted with a filter change indicator.
Works by gently introducing fresh, filtered air into the dwelling. Air is drawn into the unit and is passed through filters before being pushed around the home – as the air moves, it creates a pressure as it dilutes, displaces and eventually replaces the stale air in the home.
As air is constantly moving, humid air cannot settle on cold surfaces, such as windows or outer walls, meaning it cannot condensate.
Eventually, this humid air is forced out of natural leakage points throughout the home – such as windows, under doors or even through keyholes.
There are different types of PIV systems, which have slightly different installation methods. For example, our Drimaster-Eco unit is installed in the loft and is ducted down to a diffuser in the ceiling, whilst our Flatmaster unit requires ducting from outside the property to a central location.
Despite having different installation methods, both units work in the same way and achieve the same goal – providing fresh, filtered air to a property and curing condensation.
PIV has become the UK’s most popular method of low-energy, whole-home ventilation, and is now installed in over 1 million homes in the UK.

This case study aims to explore how the implementation of an efficient ventilation system greatly improved the indoor air quality and overall comfort in a 1940s domestic property in Manchester.
On a recent damp inspection on a three bedroom semi detached in Glossop, our surveyor discovered mould forming on the external walls and ceiling edges in both of the front bedrooms. With our client understandably concerned, we discussed a number of possible solutions to their problem.
Our client reported mould developing on the walls and skirting boards. With the basement being used for a playroom for the children, mould brought on by condensation, was certainly not ideal.

Without proper ventilation, an otherwise insulated and airtight house will seal in harmful pollutants, such as carbon monoxide, and damp moisture that can damage a house. Proper ventilation helps keep a home energy-efficient, safe, and healthy.
We regularly install PIV Units and single extract ventilation Systems. Protect your home against Condensation and Mould Growth with an effective PIV Unit.
